Parker Releases Software Update For PHD Color Displays For Off Road Equipment

The Electronic Controls Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has launched version 2.0 of its software tool suite for the PHD family of displays for mobile equipment. The PHD family of displays are general purpose displays for vehicle instrumentation for rugged, outdoor applications. The PHD family includes the PHD28 (2.8-inch nominal.), PHD50 (5.0-inch nominal.) and the PHD70 (7.0-inch nominal.) screens. All three PHD displays offer full color, touch capable screens, CAN bus interface(s) and built in I/O. In addition, the PHD50 comes with a single analog camera (PAL or NTSC) input and the PHD70 comes with two analog camera inputs (PAL or NTSC).

This latest release of the PHD Application Packager includes several updates to help simplify application software development and reduce development time. In addition, improvements to the processor utilization, video performance and touch screen response improvements allow for improved application appearance and responsiveness.

The PHD Application Packager tool can now be run in command line mode to allow for simple and fast PHD programming on the production line. Video “mirroring” has been added to both the PHD50 and PHD70 to allow for back-up camera images to be reversed for improved operator clarity. Improvements to CAN message handling have also been implemented as well as the ability to dynamically select the splash screen image during boot up. Several new checks and configuration options have also been updated to help error proof the application file loading process for less debug time during application development.

In off road mobile machinery, operators are increasingly asking for more and better information about their machines. This includes easy to access configurations and settings, as well as clear fault and status messages. Parker’s PHD Displays and software tools help machine designers meet these needs in a cost effective, easy to use platform.
